When researching safety white paper consumers should be aware of different meanings of the term "white paper." A white paper most often refers to a business or medical study delivered in a paper. Therefore, when searching the term safety white paper, a consumer will most likely find results that link to white papers/reports about safety issues.

Safety white paper can also refer to paper that is tamper resistant and is the color white. Safety paper, also known as security paper, is used to prevent fraud. While it is usually colored when used for government documents and checks, it can be white when used for printing sensitive information.

Corporations would purchase safety white paper to print out classified documents. When the documents are read by the intended audience the reader would know that he is looking at the authentic report. Safety white paper could also be used by academics, inventors, and federal officials.
